4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is your boiler in need of replacing? Comfortech Service Experts is here with a couple indicators to look for when choosing whether it’s time to buy a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler has standard maintenance, you can expect it to last about 15 years or more. Cast iron boilers can last decades, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is almost 15 years or your cast iron boiler is coming up on 50 years, it may be time to discuss an upgrade.

Bills

If your heating bills are rising or you’re having to service your boiler more repeatedly, it could be because it’s time to purchase a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you notice yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be a signal that the fuel is not burning correctly and could be generating carbon monoxide. If you observe these issues or have any concerns about carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Comfortech Service Experts or your gas company immediately.

Comfort

If some of the sections in your home are too cool or too warm and you can’t seem to control them properly or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective and you may need to look into upgrade choices.
