What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Comfortech Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Jackson always talks about how our technicians are NATE-certified, and while it sounds comforting, what does it truly mean?

NATE is an abbreviation for North American Technician Excellence and, as mentioned on their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed by and has been supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all technicians in the industry are required to be certified by NATE. The certification is optional and technicians can service heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment without being NATE-certified.

It’s important to Comfortech Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning that our experts are NATE-certified to be sure we are sending the most qualified and skilled technicians into your home. To make sure experts meet these standards, the NATE-certification tests validate real-world working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems for technicians. The tests are knowledge-based assessments that assess the technician’s knowledge of these subjects.

Since Comfortech Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification and not refrigeration, there are only certain areas pertinent to our technicians.
