When you want heating, cooling or plumbing services from Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing, you will handle the trip charge and a diagnostic fee independently. A number of companies you’ve hired in the past most likely combined the trip charge and diagnostic fee, but we believe we can provide you with even more value by keeping them separate.
A trip charge covers the cost for a licensed plumber or HVAC technician to visit your home. Occasionally called a service call fee, this payment is the initial rate for delivering our technicians, equipment and expertise to your door. If you would like to eliminate trip charges in the future, you can consider joining one of our membership plans.
The diagnostic fee covers the services necessary to find the root of a problem. For plumbing, this may consist of scoping. During HVAC repairs, it may involve inspecting the inside of the cabinet. If you elect to use Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing for any repairs, the diagnostic fee is rolled into the repair bill. That said, you are charged for the diagnostic services alone if you do not.
In general, a trip fee covers sending the plumber or HVAC technician to your home, while the diagnostic fee addresses all the work involved in evaluating the issue and figuring out a plan for repairs. If you are paying for repairs, you won’t notice the diagnostic fee as it’s included with the cost of the repairs.
Some other plumbers and HVAC companies are going to charge a single fee for both the trip and the diagnostics. Rather than charging you for two services at once, we opt for two individual fees. This helps us to price our services in the fairest achievable manner.
