The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was excited to give more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano, TX.
“Last September, I had the chance to get a group of people to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an incredible experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go beyond collecting food – they are a vital part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was started by Cheryl Jackson as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent many of her childhood years wondering if and where she would get her next meal. In addition to providing meals to families in need, Minnie’s also holds classes to teach families how to incorporate the food they receive to create healthy, long-lasting meals. They also give resume help along with financial and job classes to help families get back on their feet.
Since the families receive approximately 50 pounds of food to get them through the month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“Everyone was so thrilled that we had this food drive for Minnie’s Food Pantry, and they even showed our group their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
